Is this right for me? If you’ve always been interested in training in a Martial Art, and think Shotokan might be for you, we encourage you to come and watch one (or more) of our classes. Observers are welcome at all regular Monday, Wednesday, and Friday classes and Saturday kata classes (although not Instructor Training classes). Visit us and see what we do every day. Many people find our focus on karate-do as lifetime exercise, and on the dojo kun, is what they want in their martial arts training.
Can I try it first? Of course! Your first class is free, with no obligation. If you decide you like it (and we think you will), there’s no contract to sign. There is a nominal membership fee, and the monthly dues. You can train in as many classes as you are eligible for.
Once you’ve decided to dive in, be sure to download a copy of the Student Handbook if you don’t already have one. It has all kinds of great information for the new or beginning student. Also, wander around this site a bit. It has some great essays about karate-do written by Sensei Koyama, and links to our parent organization and other JKA/WF dojos.
